The Environmental Science Center (ESC) is a nonprofit organization that helps people feel a deeper connection to nature and a motivation to want to protect the environment by delivering science-based programs at local beaches, forests, rivers, and classrooms in south King County. ESC strives to foster a passion for the environment in our diverse community by getting people outside and using nature as our teacher. Our programming mainly focuses on educating our community about the health of Puget Sound and how we can take action in our everyday lives to keep our waterways clean.
Since 2000 ESC has worked with thousands of people through collaborations with a growing number of school districts and community-based organizations as well as through speaking engagements, festivals, and workshops. We offer a variety of programs such as in-school fieldtrips, after school science clubs, high school internships, service learning projects, toddler programs, restoration events, and environmental walks. Equity and access are key values of ESC and we make it our priority to provide programs for community members who are lease likely to have access to environmental science opportunities.
